Hi everyone,

April 8th, 2009
When I’m away from the store for a while it is always an enormous pleasure to walk back in and find so many new treasures. Coyote Moon is bursting with color and light and joy in this Spring which has been so very long coming!

Here’s a selection of what’s new….

photo* Michelle is modeling our collective favorite new item, this super-flattering shrug/wrap. It is very fine and soft and just perfect for layering. A most elegant way to add a touch of warmth to any outfit. We have a whole range of colors.

* Dresses galore. The collection has something for every occasion and range from pretty and girly to chic and classic. A few worth noting are the slightly stretchy print dresses with a knotted crossover neck and flattering flared skirt, the exquisitely cut classic black tank dress in a cotton/tencel blend hand-loomed in Peru, and the superfine cotton lace overlaid on a cotton slip.

* A hugely expanded collection of clay-dyed hemp. We have carried the short and long-sleeved t-shirts from these designers for a long time but the new expanded range takes this very popular collection to a whole new level of sophistication. This season’s colors are sage, apricot and a warm lemon cream. I love the ankle-length sleeveless dress with an empire waist and fluted seams but we have two shorter summer dresses with super detail like a crochet flower at the bust too, lightweight shrugs, roll-top pants and v-neck tanks with an empire waist.

* Lovely coordinating lightweight skirts and blouses in feminine prints and palettes.

* Beautiful fine leather bags with great details in wonderful colors like raspberry and lime.

* The start of our Spring linen collection of separates from FLAX and other designers. We have lots of pieces in a fabulous mushroom color which is really striking paired with white or black. Also pants and jackets in a rich and warm redwood that looks terrific matched up with coordinated pieces in coral and vanilla. This year Michelle, the owner, has chosen some lovely cotton/linen knitted blends from the same designers and they look great with the linen, softening the look slightly.

* New, rather organic looking necklaces and earrings that pair genuine stones with sterling silver accents. Earthy, but with a little sparkle.

* Great new beaded jewelry from Aid Through Trade Nepali artisans featuring peace signs. Great big hooped earrings, bracelets with magnetic clasps and long, elegant necklaces.

I’ll leave you today with the title poem from Daniel Ladinsky’s translation of Hafiz called The Subject Tonight is Love. Enjoy.

The subject tonight is Love
And for tomorrow night as well,
As a matter of fact
I know of no better topic
For us to discuss
Until we all
Die
