As always our book section is full of new and ancient wisdom, made so easily available for all of us today. Here's a quote from a recent favorite Hand Wash Cold, Care Instructions for an Ordinary Life, by Karen Maezen Miller, "When I tell you that fear is the basic ground of ego, the false sense of separate self, you might conclude what I do. We are unavailable for any true loving and fulfilling relationship as long as we are trapped in a committed relationship with the most controlling part of our own mind- our fear. Our fear of what will happen and our fear of what will not." One thing we know from supporting all our wonderful customers is that we are in this together. Learning to meet our fears and live well is something we can practice day by day.

I’ll leave you with this nourishing tidbit:
One of our current books Why is God Laughing, The Path to Joy & Spiritual Optimism by Deepak Chopra is full of inspiration. It’s the fictional tale of the life of a comedian on a spiritual path. In it “Deepak shows us that there is darkness in the world and that comedy is a candle; he encourages us to meditate on the candle and not on the darkness.” At the end of the book, Deepak includes 10 principles of spiritual optimism. Here’s number 3: “You belong in the scheme of the universe. There’s nothing to be afraid of. You are safe. (This) third principle is the antidote for insecurity. It tells us that fear can be totally convincing, yet there is no truth to it. Fear cannot be trusted.” Amazingly, my 14 year old son said essentially the same thing to me recently. That gives me hope that we’re evolving, and in the meantime, I’m glad there are reminders. Hope this one serves you.
